The Hill Country Flyer is an excursion steam train that makes a 60-mile round-trip from the town of Cedar Park. It travels on a railway line built more than 100 years ago to haul limestone, marble, and the pink granite used to build the Texas State Capitol from the stone quarries of Burnet County. This is one of two bike rides beginning at the Burnet town square near the restored Hill Country Flyer train depot. There are fine country roads to ride in every direction from Burnet, another wonderful Hill Country town surrounded by beautiful countryside formed by an ancient and diverse geology.
