Kickapoo Cavern Primitive Cave Hike Professional Review and Guide
"Kickapoo Cavern is a well-known cave, popular since the 1880s for its enormous passageway and massive cave columns. It also makes a terrific summer day hike, maintaining a cool 68-degree temperature even on the hottest afternoons. The cave has been preserved in its natural state and is negotiated on foot via flashlight over uneven limestone breakdown—large, vehicle-size slabs of rock that were once the cave’s ceiling. You slip down a hole about the size of a kitchen table, then hike across the breakdown to see the largest known speleothems (cave columns) in the state."
