Marufo Vega Trail Professional Reviews and Guides
"The Marufo Vega Trail offers a strenuous but spectacular trip with a variety of hiking options in the Dead Horse Mountains, including the rim of Boquillas Canyon and the Rio Grande. About 3.5 miles into this rugged hike, the trail splits into south and north forks. The north fork descends a steep canyon drainage and reaches the river in about 2.5 more miles. From the junction, the south fork leads to the Rio Grande in a little more than 3 miles, plus provides excellent views from the heights of the canyon rim. The last mile of the south fork drops very abruptly to the river. A 1.5- mile connecting trail joins the ends of each Marufo Vega fork by traveling parallel to and above the river."
