"As you stroll this easy trail, you will find many interpretive signs that explain desert ecology. It winds through typical Chihuahuan Desert vegetation, offering a taste of the middle-elevation desert plant communities that cover so much of Big Bend National Park. Due to its elevation and lack of shade, this trail can be extremely hot from late spring through early fall. Shady cottonwoods around the picnic tables provide relief from the desert sun on hot days. Water seeping to the surface feeds a small oasis here. During mild weather you can often see lizards, desert cottontail rabbits, and numerous birds along the path. Look for rodent tunnels along the trail and under plants."
