Colorado Bend State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Colorado Bend State Park, a 5,328-acre facility, is located west of Lampasas in San Saba and Lampasas Counties. The park offers the outdoor enthusiast access to hiking, fishing (which at certain times is terrific), swimming, mountain biking, birding, and nature watching. There are nearly 16 miles of hiking trails and 14 miles of mountain bike trails. When Lake Buchanan is near normal levels, the river is navigable from the park’s boat ramp all the way to the lake, approximately 10 miles. This is a trip on slow-moving water through the beautiful canyon lands of the Colorado.

On Saturdays guided tours are offered to Gorman Falls (reservations not required), which is also accessible by a day-use hiking trail (approximately 4 miles round–trip). The park also offers guided walking wild cave tours and self-guided crawling cave explorations. Reservations are highly recommended for the cave tours due to the limited number of people who can be taken at any given time."
