Pine Ridge Loop at McKinney Roughs Nature Park Professional Review and Guide
"This hike explores the McKinney Roughs from top to bottom and back again. Start on a high plateau and trace a wild ravine, reaching a crow’s-nest promontory with far-reaching views. Descend to the Colorado River and walk through the woods along the water’s edge. Look for relics of the land’s ranching days along the way.Ecologically the park is an unusual blend of swaths of oak savanna, pine woods, and grassy blackland prairie-all in addition to the overgrown riparian zone. The park trailhead is beside the dining hall, which is past the metal silo next to the park office."

Beautiful secluded park. Great trails up the cliffs away from the river. No water at falls at this time.
My husband and Iove this trail. We have hiked it many times. An early Spring Day is best - cooler mornings and often we have seen large crawfish in the pools - small waterfalls can also be seen, great place to sit and have snack or picnic.
Excellent scenery. Lake Austin has waves. Can fish and boat. Can picnic, barbeque, hangout with friends and/or family.
