McKinney Falls State Park

McKinney Falls State Park Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Located less than 45 minutes from the bright lights and eclectic music scene of downtown Austin, this hidden retreat will soothe those big-city nerves in a hurry. The park will take you back in time to when Central Texas was the home of Native Americans and the early pioneers were looking for a patch of farmland and dependable water.

After leaving the headquarters, an immediate right turn leads 0.4 mile to Lower McKinney Falls parking area and trailhead. From here, an easy five-minute walk takes you to one of the area’s most popular warm-weather destinations. The open expanses of smooth limestone and emerald-green pools invite swimming, wading, or just enjoying the small waterfall."
