This 940-acre park has campgrounds, RV sites, and sixty-four dog-friendly rooms at the lodge, which also has a swimming pool and restaurant. An observatory on the property is open for public stargazing most Wednesday and Saturday nights. A joint venture of the LCRA, with assistance from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and a private company, Canyon of the Eagles is home to a variety of wildlife, and some 800 acres are a nature preserve, set aside for three species of threatened or endangered birds: the American bald eagle, the black-capped vireo, and the golden-cheeked warbler. The trail, a mix of dirt and mowed brush, follows a fence that closes off the endangered bird habitat for part of the year.
