Atlanta State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"Atlanta State Park is 1,475 acres on Lake Wright Patman. Caddo Indians, the most culturally advanced tribe in Texas, once made this area their home. Contrasting seasonal colors of the terrain, the lake, sunsets, and pine forest are breathtaking. The park offers a playground with swings and slides, sand volleyball courts, a basketball court, horseshoes pits, 3.8 miles of hiking trails, 1.2 miles of interpretive trails, an amphitheater, a shelter, and canoe rentals.
Swimming is available at a designated sandy beach area on popular Wright Patman Lake. Crappie, largemouth bass, white bass, several species of sunfish, channel catfish, blue catfish, and flathead catfish are present in good numbers in the lake. Concrete boat-launching ramps and covered fishcleaning areas are available. Bicycling is popular along the hilly park and area roads."
