North River Campground Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"North River Campground is located deep within the Cherokee National Forest. The campground, situated on a level river bend between a wooded mountainside and the clear-running North River, has a serene atmosphere. For a tent camper who likes minimum fanfare and maximum nature, this is the place. Human accoutrements are sparse in this Forest Service camping area, but natural amenities are abundant.
Trout swim the creek’s waters shaded by hemlock, sycamore, and rhododendron. Mature dogwoods and white pine provide a beautiful backdrop for those relaxing evenings fireside. There are grassy areas between the trees, accentuating the ample spaciousness between the level tent sites. Dead, fallen firewood is abundant in the area, as are nature’s citizens: deer, wild turkey, wild boar, and bear."
