This is a great loop but it is quite challenging. Lots of rocks and boulder hoping. I wasn't expecting the boulder field between Collins East and Collins West. I recommend doing it counter-clockwise so that the second day is your short day. The hike from Sawmill to Suter Falls is absolutely beautiful.

I had rain, freezing rain, then snow during my 1.5 day solo, but the snow made the gulf amazing. Be really careful around the overhang at Suter Falls in the winter. Ice is heavy and dangerous at this point. I am a big Savage Gulf fan and this is one of my favorite hikes.

Excellent Hike. Well maintained trials. From East Collins to Sawmill fairly easy. From Sawmill to Dinky Line, Beautiful and breath taking, just before Hobbs Cabin, fairly difficult climb on the Connector Trail. From Dinky line camp site to Sawmill smooth. A little spooky at night with the wind blowing through the trees at Sawmill! However, "Don't miss the Great Overlook view at Sawmill Campsite". (3 Nights and 4 days) With a 7 year old and 9 year old. If they can do it you can! Don't miss the gorge trails. Best so far in Tennessee! Plan to do again in the Fall.
