I am a lone day hiker and did this one alone. I would not recommend doing this one alone,there are to many places to get hurt or injured especially at crossings and the boulder fields (it was also wet the day I went)

I would highly recommend thie trail it is beautiful and varied.the 1st part is along the creek down in the gourge with several waterfalls (suter is amazing) and the 2nd part runs along the ridge with several overlooks.
I am in good shape and this hike I believe is at the limits of a day hike especially ending the last mile crossing a boulder field on the side of ridge.

Great hike just be careful and plan on it taking a while to complete.

update;
did this trail again 5/17/11 and after doing all the trails in savage gulf i think this is one of the best very challenging but ok for day hike.

SAT DOWN TO TAKE A BREAK AT STAGECAOCH ROAD/CONNECTOR TRAIL JUNCTION AND I HEARD THE DISTINCT SOUND OF A BEAR WITH 3 SEPERATE TIMES. THE SOUND CAME FORM JUST OVER THE HILL FROM WHERE I CAME AND WAS JUST OUT OF SIGHT EACH SOUND GOT LOUDER AND CLOSER SO I PACKED UP AND MOVED ON UP THE STAGECOACH TRAIL.

ADDED SOME EXCITEMENT TO THE HIKE REALLY WANTED TO SEE THE BEAR BUT THE SOUNDS MADE ME BELIEVE IT WANTED ME GONE.

Wow! My son and I did the entire loop, about 12 miles in one day. This is a very difficult but rewarding hike. The ascents up out of the gorge can be very tiring, the Connector Trail is also demanding as is the Boulder Crossing that will make mincemeat out of your ankles and feet. Wear sturdy hiking boots, carry plenty of water. The falls, the sinks, and especially the abundance of wildflowers were amazing. Only seasoned hikers in great shape should plan on doing the entire loop in one day. Don't get caught on the trail at dark, as the way can be rough and demands great care. The scenery and geological features are superb!
