This trek visits two overlooks straddled on the edge of the Mullens Creek gorge. First, descend along pretty little Hemlock Branch, crossing the clear stream, then head for Mullens Cove Overlook, where the rock-walled gorge of Mullens Creek opens to the Tennessee River. Backtrack, then head to Ransom Hollow Overlook, where an outcrop presents an extensive sweep of the Grand Canyon of the Tennessee River as far as the eye can see. Elevation changes are minimal, making a narrow rocky trail the main challenge.
