This nearly flat hike passes Indian mounds several centuries old and is appropriate for all ages and abilities. These earth mounds are all that remain of a large city built by “Mound Builder” Indians, who lived in the area of West Tennessee before the advent of white settlers. Their society included at least six communities, of which the one at Shiloh was the largest. Since the residents moved out of this area nearly 800 years ago, it’s uncertain whether they were related to the later Choctaw, Creek, or Chickasaw tribes.
