Twin Arches Loop with Charit Creek Lodge at Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area Professional Review and Guide
"This hike is one of the premier hikes of the Big South Fork River and Recreation Area. The shorter of the two loops visits two of the biggest natural arches in the eastern United States. The longer loop winds around down to Charit Creek Lodge, then comes back beside some sandstone bluffs and overhangs that are beautiful for their shape, size, and colors. The Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area represents a new model when it comes to the National Park Service: It is an area that combines the traditional resource protection that you find in a national park, alongside a multitude of recreational activities that are much more diverse than normally found in such an area."

Nice hike with plenty of scenery and not too busy. We hiked in and camped by the Charit Creek lodge. It was a short walk up to the arches with the view from the top being very beautiful. Make sure to take some $$ as the lodge will serve you an awesome breakfast if you ask them the day before.
Easy peasy trail with stunning stone arches, beautiful views on the way out. Only reason that I don't give 5 stars is personal...5 stars is when a waterway is included!
Apparently Backpacker magazine called this area "Utah, but with trees." I can believe it. The formations are truly majestic. And take the time to do the longer loop to Jake's Place. The rock formations continue and, although not on par with the Twin Arches, are truly wonderful in their own right. You will not be disappointed. Stay tuned for other Charit Creek trail descriptions (Laurel Fork Loop, Slave Falls Loop); this area is rich with hiking but only a handful of its trails are on this site.
Difficulty: Easy to Easy-Moderate
Some impressive rock shelters, and the Twin Arches are very impressive. Trail is well marked. Few, but some camping spots are available. Overall, I would recommend this one.
Mile for mile, this is probably the most scenic trail I have hiked in the eastern U.S. It is well worth hiking the Arches trail as well as the Charit Creek loop. Hike it counter clockwise for lots of scenic rockhouses to keep you going on the return trip. It's also a gentler climb back up. You won't want for new things to peek your interest. An added bonus for my trip was the fall colors being at peak
