For those who can't get enough of Big South Fork, the 2.5-mile out-and-back (5 miles total) leading to Leatherwood Overlook is a relaxing doubletrack trip. The best part, aside from the spectacular view at the end of the ride, is the wildlife opening that begins about halfway to the overlook. It's just under a mile long, and if you ride it at the dusky times of the day, you're sure to spot all kinds of wildlife. You go right to the edge of the river canyon wall, and it is magnificent. The bridge seen in the distance spans the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River; you can pick out the Overlook on the drive over the TN 297 bridge.
