This is an extreme ride. The first 3.5 miles are on beautiful rolling single track, but then the bottom drops out. A very steep, sandstone staircase descent, riddled with rocks (it is rideable), takes you to the edge of the Big South Fork. Here you have to think like a horse and slog through a number of mud bogs and sand pits. You'll finish with a four-mile climb. Highlights: Heavy horse use, sand, mud bogs, cabin, chimney rocks, river views.
