Norris Professional Reviews and Guides

"The Norris Watershed holds an assortment of well-maintained and marked trails. Many are short connector trails and any number of loop combinations exist. The outer loop described here should get you off to a good start.

Surface: Single/double track, 8 miles. Forest road, .6 miles. Highlights include: 4WD use, horse use, rocky, rolling hills, mud holes, lots of turns."

"This doubletrack path located at Norris Dam State Park starts atop a knobby ridge before plunging toward Norris Lake, where it travels near the shore through second-growth forest.

The hike then turns up an inlet, where it makes a second loop and climbs the knobby ridge again, only to return to Norris Lake, this time passing directly along accessible shoreline. Your second climb, back to the trailhead, is gentler. Norris Dam State Park offers many other trails as well as other recreational opportunities."

"This hike combines trails old and new. Start at Norris Dam on a Civilian Conservation Corps-built track along Norris Lake, traveling a steep slope with big trees. Then pick up the newer Lake View Trail, which explore more shoreline, with expansive water vistas, everywhere-you-look beauty, and still more big trees.

The trek begins on a hiker-only asphalt path, Lakeside Loop Trail, leaving from big Norris Dam. The trail shortly changes to gravel. An angler's trail spurs left toward the short, while the main track makes an easterly course under shade-bearing beeches."

Couple of days of super riding to be had at Norris. The trip to high point is a fairly short one on a service road. From there you can take one of many routes. You singletrack fans will love the lake loop - a somewhat technical, but fast trip down to the beautiful blue waters of Norris Lake. A swim here is a must. Have fun!
