This hike is for those who love history and hilly woods. A short portion of the trail follows the original Natchez Trace that went from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi. Join and follow the Overlook Branch to a sweeping view of the area. Leipers Fork is 26 miles southwest of Nashville. This 1.6-mile trail that combines the Garrison Creek and Overlook Trail contains a short section of the original Natchez Trace Trail that went from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi. Garrison Creek was named for a garrison of soldiers who were stationed nearby during the 1800s. This section of the trail allows equestrians, so step carefully. Start the hike at the Garrison Creek Trail trailhead, located behind the shelter/restroom adjoining the parking area. The trailhead for the Overlook Trail is about 15 yards to the right. This is where the hike will end. The trail heads slightly up and into the woods and is blazed with white blazes painted on trees.
