McMinnville, Fall Creek Falls, and State Resort Park (Pikeville, TN) Professional Review and Guide
"To get to McMinnville, you’ll pass through the rural town of Woodbury, which has an art center that draws visitors from around the area for its plays, art shows, and other events. McMinnville is known as the “Nursery Capital of the World” due to its more than 450 nurseries that specialize in all types of trees, plants, and shrubs. Most of them are open on weekends. Fall Creek Falls State Park, the largest in the system, offers some of the most spectacular scenery in Tennessee.
Visitors can see majestic cascades, deep chasms and gorges, virgin timber, and the magnificent Fall Creek Falls, which plunges 256 feet into a shaded pool. The falls is the highest waterfall east of the Rocky Mountains. The park is a popular destination for hiking and camping, and other amenities include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, wading pool for children, boating facilities, an eighteen-hole golf course, tennis courts, ball fields, picnic grounds, bicycle paths, horse stables and trails, playgrounds, nature center, and rental bikes. Special events are scheduled throughout the year and include runs, backpacking trips, bicycle excursions, rock-climbing workshops, and craft shows."
