Eagle Point Overnight Trail at Mousetail Landing State Park Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This 6.7-mile lollipop loop trail has two nice shelters along the way, is well marked with blue blazes, and is a great trail to break in new overnight hikers. Sections of the trail are mossy and soft underfoot, and the view from Shelter #2 is amazing and worth the wait.
Mousetail Landing State Park is located on the eastern banks of the Tennessee River. Its 1,247 acres contain a profusion of animal life, and it is a favorite spot for birders. Mousetail Landing received its name during the 1800s when one of the area’s tanning companies caught fire. There were so many mice fleeing the burning tannery that the area was named Rattail Landing. Later, when a new tannery was built, it was known as Mousetail Landing because of its smaller size."
