This is a beautiful place to go kayaking or canoeing, but it is not the place to go if you are a beginner when it comes to paddling. While it is not a whitewater experience, the difficulty level is considered intermediate to difficult due to the fact that it is a narrow, twisty-turn-y swamp in its natural state (i.e., with lots of trees and other obstructions) that can be difficult to navigate. You won’t see motorized boats here because it is simply not navigable by those types of vessels. There are several spots where portage is necessary. Put-in and take-out are well marked and not difficult – but you shouldn’t let that fool you. This is not an easy section to paddle.
