Iron Mountain Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This hike will take you from the shore of Watauga Lake to two viewpoints high above the lake at rock outcrops on Iron Mountain, and it involves a 1,000-foot gain in elevation. The entire hike lies within the Big Laurel Branch Wilderness.
From Wilbur Dam Road, hike north on the A.T. and begin climbing Iron Mountain in the Big Laurel Branch Wilderness.
