The three different loops found inside Panther Creek State Recreation Area make up a total of over 6 miles, mostly easy double- and singletrack. There is, however, a small singletrack (a 2.5-mile loop west of the boat ramp) that demands expert riding skills. Called simply the Advanced Trail, this route is also the most scenic exploration of land still showing signs of its former days as a farm along Panther Creek. The Appalachian Mountain Bike Club is working with park administrators to expand current mileage.

I thought this was a fun trail system. There was some nice singletrack, with good climbs, nice views of the lake, and good twisting descents. Also, the trails here offer variety from beginner/easy to more challenging trails. The only reason I didn't rate it five stars is that the total amount of trails are somewhat limited. But it was worth the trip since I was in the area.

The location is Morristown, TN (not Jefferson City) and it is 40 miles from Knoxville. Be sure to check the State Park situation before coming to bike, Tennessee is talking about shutting down the parks and laying off teachers to make ends meet in Nashville! Great trail system for all levels of ability...even has a "half pipe" for boys to jump!
