This Dennis Cove section of the Appalachian Trail (AT) provides great variety in its spectacular river views, picturesque Laurel Fork Falls, massive rock faces, and gorge views from ridges, before it diverts to US 321 and the Laurel Fork Creek Trailhead. This area offers flame azalea, mountain laurel, and rhododendron blooms in season, and some of its trees date back to the Civil War! It is a truly spectacular short hike, though the trail signage is not the easiest to follow
