North Chickamauga Creek Trail at North Chickamauga State Natural Area

North Chickamauga Creek Trail at North Chickamauga State Natural Area Professional Review and Guide

"The North Chickamauga Creek Gorge is a very important hiking and recreation area located just 15 miles north of Chattanooga. The trail is great and is a portion of the North Chickamauga Creek Segment of the Cumberland Trail. However, expect lots of swimmers in the summer, coupled with a lack of parking and crowding. Spring or fall trips can be somewhat calmer.

The North Chickamauga Creek Gorge is a beautiful canyon just north of Chattanooga. Its major feature is the gorge itself, cut out of the east fl ank of the Cumberland Plateau (or more specifically, Walden’s Ridge) by North Chickamauga Creek. The gorge is remarkable for its sheer sandstone bluff s, the tumbling creek that bisects the area, and the lush forest cover."
