As this book goes to press, Boyd Gap Trail is still under construction and not yet open to the public for mountain biking. Check at the Whitewater Center or at the Trailhead for opening status before riding. When complete, this will be an awesome ride. Remember, you can always volunteer to help finish the construction! Highlights: Downhill singletrack, lake views, deadfall potential.

I don't understand the listing of 8.4 miles, unless the submitter was counting the asphalt road as being a connector to something else, so I will be commenting on the .5-.7 mile stretch of Boyd's Gap trail that spans the Overlook parking to the asphalt road leading to the river and Old Copper road: This is almost exclusively a downhill ride and a fun one at that. While it doesn't last long, it's challenging and you can pick up as much speed as you dare to. Recently, work was done on the trail to get rid of the erosion and place some waterbreaks, which returned the trail to a pristine condition. A fun run is from the bottom of Brush Creek ~ Boyd's Gap left on the asphalt road ~ Old Copper Road ~ Ocoee Whitewater Center.
