Hiwassee/ocoee Scenic River State Park “gee Creek” Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Known as “Gee Creek Campground,” the overnighting portion of Hiwassee-Ocoee Scenic River State Park lies in a large, wooded flat at the base of Starr Mountain, adjacent to the cold, clear waters of the Hiwassee River. A tall pine forest once shaded the campground, but pine beetles decimated them. However, planted hardwoods are growing nicely and now provide ever-increasing shade."

Excellent camp for Scouts! We had a group of about 35. The park rangers are great and there is usually some type of show at the ampitheatre on the weekends.

My wife and I camped here over new years eve and boy was it cold. We were the only people at the site but it was great. The sites are spacious and nestled right against the river. The park rangers drives through periodically to check on things so safety is definitely intact. Investigate the surrounding area...it will be a delight.

We enjoyed this campground pretty much and do plan to go back this time next year with more family members. It is a
nice place for familes and groups. It is easy to find and easy on the pocket book.

We did enjoyed this place.
