Bluff Trail at Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park Professional Review and Guide
"This trail follows the upper edge of the bluff from Ochs Museum, where the Kentucky Volunteers first planted their flag in the battle, passes Sunset Rock, a lookout position in the Battle of Lookout Mountain, and ends near Covenant College across the Georgia border.
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park straddles the state line and was one of the nation’s first four military parks. The park was established in 1890 to commemorate the Battle of Lookout Mountain, one of the bloodiest of the Civil
War, which resulted in over 34,000 casualties (including 2,500 dead) from both Confederate and Union ranks. The campaign, which covered a front of over 150 miles, is commemorated by 1,400 monuments placed by veterans."
