Falls of the Scenic Spur

Falls of the Scenic Spur Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This hike explores the lower end of the designated Rock Creek Gorge Scenic Area in the Cherokee National Forest. Leave the trailhead to shortly enter the valley of Rock Creek, at first a wide, wooded flat centered with a clear stream.

The valley closes and you enter the heart of the gorge with its rock bluffs, boulders, and craggy splendor. A couple of creek crossings take you deeper into the gorge and trail’s end, where a series of waterfalls and deep pools inspire the trail’s name."

"This waterfall is hidden in the Rock Creek Scenic Area of the Cherokee National Forest. Start in more woods than rock, then delve into the Rock Creek Valley, where boulders, cliffs, and rock formations become the rule. Two creek crossings lead you to these falls, first a two-tiered 20-foot rumbler, followed by a brief placid stretch, then a second cataract below which lies a plunge pool." Read more
