A loop hike through large stands of ponderosa, aspen, and birch, with a gradual descent into Little Spearfish Canyon. Deer tracks abound, and flickers dart among the tree branches. The variation and abundance of plant life in this area are amazing and include juniper, sage, varied wildflowers, buck brush, and kinnikinnick, a favorite grouse dish. The remainder of the trail gradually descends into the depths of Little Spearfish Canyon, where the rock walls and formations stand in mute testimony to the forces of nature.
