A long day hike in the elicit rock Wilderness Area along the ridges and through the coves of Fork Mountain, finishing along the Chattooga River. This hike through the Ellicott Rock Wilderness Area circles the north side of Fork Mountain along the Fork Mountain Trail, then departs from the mountainside via a short stretch of the Bad Creek Trail. The trail finishes along the Chattooga Trail, heading along the Chattooga River past Ellicott Rock and all the way to the bridge at Burrells Ford. The suggested hike provides direct connections to a number of other routes, including the East Fork and Foothills trails in South Carolina and the Bad Creek trail in North Carolina.

We hiked the Bad Creek Trail that is referred to in the Fork Mountain Trail. We found no explicit reference or review of Bad Creek Trail in any searches. Not sure if we ever actually crossed the Fork Mountain Trail because signs were few and blazes, zero. BCT was a moderate 7 mile round trip from trailhead downhill to the Chatooga River. Nice beach, swimming hole and scenic falls. Saw 3 people fishing, 1 hiking, on a Sunday afternoon in June. Found directions on a local brochure.
