Long Cane Creek

Long Cane Creek Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Start your trip at the Long Cane Bridge, near the historic Long Cane Church. It is a long way down a grassy bank to the water. You immediately join a serpentine stream slicing through hilly terrain and rich bottomland.

Rock outcrops both in and above the water add charming value. Paddle under the remote Patterson Bridge, continuing into Sumter National Forest, deep with vegetation. Undoubtedly, a few trees will block your passage. Go light in your boat, making for easier pullovers. The shallow, sandy stream is fun if you like steering trials. Toward the end, the hills open to the Long Cane Creek embayment. The stream slows amid willow thickets that alternate with wooded hills."
