Table Rock State Park Professional Review and Guide
"The distinc tive granite face of Table Rock Mountain has attracted people to this scenic area since the days of the Cherokee, who believed the Great Spirit dined on the mountain’s flat top, hence the name Table Rock. Later, this area was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. The Corps’ handiwork was so well crafted that Table Rock Mountain State Park was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989."
