Santee State Park Professional Review and Guide
"Several short trails and one longer one along the shore of Lake Marion, famed for its bountiful fishing. Santee State Park is the second most visited state park in South Carolina. This park is best known for its fishing, but its pleasant hiking trails are a happy surprise.
The longest, the Bike Trail, is of course mostly used by mountain bikers, but it offers periodic glimpses of beautiful Lake Marion as well as a link between the shorter, more scenic trails. The park is open daily from 6 A.M. to 10 P.M. Birds frequently seen along the trails include quail, eastern wood-pewee, wild turkey, brown thrasher, osprey, mourning dove, owls (great horned, eastern screech, and barred), Carolina wren, and several woodpeckers, including the rare red-cockaded."
