Have you ever seen Lake Jocassee? Others may disagree, but I believe this impoundment to be South Carolina’s most beautiful lake. A richly forested shoreline overlooks emerald water against a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. On the lake’s northern shores are the Jocassee Gorges, steep valleys where waterfalls are fed by cool clear streams. Devils Fork State Park occupies some of Lake Jocassee’s awesome shoreline, where walk-in tent sites abut the shoreline and offer instant water access.
