Rapids of the Savannah River Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This aquatic adventure slaloms through the fun rapids of the Savannah River as the big river dips off the fall line near North Augusta, South Carolina. Of course, the Savannah River forms the boundary of South Carolina and Georgia. You will start on the Georgia side at Savannah Rapids Park, one of the finest preserves in the region. Here, you can launch your craft on the big Savannah or the paralleling Augusta Canal (not detailed here).
Our trip joins the rocky Savannah and immediately begins a fun excursion through moderate shoals to pass under the I-20 Bridge. From there, bluffs rise on the South Carolina side of the waterway, including the protected Savannah River Bluffs Heritage Preserve. More rapids lie ahead, including a long stretch of Class I–II rapids."
