Burrells Ford Campground

Burrells Ford Campground Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"Before the Chattooga was declared a wild and scenic river, campers could drive all the way to Burrells Ford Campground. But since its inclusion as a wild and scenic river, a protective corridor has been established, effectively cutting off all direct auto access to the campground.

This has been a mixed blessing: It has limited the use of the campground, but has cut maintenance as well. Of course, the short walk may deter some tent campers, but you can be guaranteed no RVs will ever be at Burrells Ford!"

This is a walk-in primitive campground that provides campers an opportunity to overnight along the gorgeous Wilde and Scenic Chattooga River. You’ll have to hike-in about a quarter of a mile from your vehicle, but the scenery is well worth the effort if you’re a true outdoors enthusiast. There is not much in the way of amenities here, as you would expect – but there actually is a pit toilet at this spot (not common with most of the nearby primitive spots).
