Anne Springs Close Greenway

Anne Springs Close Greenway Professional Review and Guide

"Moderately hilly trails through diverse terrain, from open fields to hardwood forest and rocky creek bottoms. Serving as a buffer between the town of Fort Mill and the Charlotte metropolitan area just to the north, the Anne Springs Close Greenway is a 2,300-acre preserve in the Steele Creek watershed.

Special attractions at the Greenway include an interpretative nature trail around a scenic fishing lake, a nature center, a historic log cabin, and delightful swinging bridges."

While this area is definitely not difficult and might bore more experienced hikers, I really like it as a nice place to walk around and get outdoors and it's perfect for taking my young nephews when I visit the area. There's really hardly any hills so you don't need to be skilled to enjoy it and keep up. The trails are kept up well and the kids enjoyed the nature and history trails and the lakes and watching people fishing. There are a lot of mountain bikes on the trails too but it's not too crowded and bikers and hikers seem to share the trails well. I know some people don't like the fee to get in but I think that helps keep the park nice.
im writing this again because i dont know if they other one got in... (fail) so i would of loved to go fishing today(im a member) but too bad its closed and has been for 3 days now.. it lightly rained on sunday and now its TUESDAY! it was nice and 60 degrees out and they are closed... really? the greenway should be open EVERYDAY. who cares if there is mud? if someone gets hurt its their own fault not the greenways... thanks greenway... You ruined my entire week
I really enjoyed this trail. Not too technical for a beginner (I've only been riding for about 10 months), but enough obstacles to keep it interesting -the swinging bridges are cool, too. It's a good length; it can be a nice long ride or a short loop, depending on which sections you opt for. It could be marked a little better, though; there are horse/hiking paths that cross and overlap the mtb path, which makes reading the trail map somewhat confusing if you've never ridden here, but other than that, no complaints.
Not very large, nice for a day hike with the family. Trails are not very well marked and are shared by bikers, horses, and hikers. Trial crossing are confusing and maps are not much help. Overall, its nice for a stroll around the lake, some camping not much else
