Little Pee Dee River Professional Guide
Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook
"This is a fun trip on a scenic waterway—literally, as it is one of nine state-designated scenic rivers in the South Carolina. The paddling trip down the Little Pee Dee River takes place just east of Dillon, though you would never know the town is so close while you are on the water.
Leave the Stafford Bridge Landing and commence swiftly down this blackwater stream, dodging occasional fallen trees under a canopy of vegetation. The Little Pee Dee rarely goes straight; it is usually curving in this section. Occasionally, the river will divide into channels, and you must choose your way. However, the correct route will be evident with a cut and cleared channel, whereas the wrong route will almost always clog up with vegetation. You will see a few houses on adjoining sloughs but not very many."
