Edisto Nature Trail Professional Review and Guide
"A short nature walk through an extremely diverse forest. The trail features the historic King's Highway and an old phosphate operation. This excellently marked, well-maintained trail is provided by Westvaco, a paper and packaging manufacturer with large forest holdings on South Carolina’s coastal plain. Extensive interpretive signs identify vegetation species and other items of interest, and guide pamphlets available from a mailbox at the trailhead provide detailed descriptions and background information for the walk. The trail meanders through forest typical of South Carolina’s coastal plain. The land here was once heavily farmed, logged, and mined, but nature has long since reclaimed it. Boardwalks and footbridges in low-lying areas facilitate passage for visitors."
