Cypress Gardens

Cypress Gardens Professional Review and Guide

"Half a day's walk through cultivated gardens and natural areas in a cypress-tupelo blackwater swamp. Cypress Gardens is a 163-acre blend of natural and exotic vegetation in the heart of Dean Hall Plantation. The centerpiece of Cypress Gardens is a shallow blackwater wetland with a rich history dating back to the early 1700s.

The gardens are an eye-popping wonder of blazing azaleas, flowering dogwoods, colorful daffodils, scented wisteria, and numerous other blooming specimens that double their beauty through their perfect reflections in the dark, quiet waters. The flowers are in peak bloom in March and April, but the gardens are beautiful at any time of year. The natural beauty of Cypress Gardens has not gone unnoticed by Hollywood, and a number of movies have been filmed here, including The Yearling, North and South, and Rear View Mirror."
