Wateree River

Wateree River Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This section of the Wateree River makes for an ideal recreational day trip for paddlers. Starting at the boat ramp at the foot of Wateree Dam, you enter swift-moving water generated by releases from the dam.

If Duke Energy is not generating, the river may be too low and boney—that is, rocky—to float. So, go when Duke Energy is generating. Wateree Dam looms large above you, yet the current takes you downstream over very mild Loves Shoals."
