Black River

Black River Professional Guide

Detailed Trail Description from our Guidebook

"This is a fun and diverse paddle due to the strangely alternating characteristics of the Black River. In places it flows wide, straight, and easy, then it suddenly narrows into sharp bends and shallows slaloming betwixt tree snags, the “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde” of South Carolina streams.

These slender segments are canopied and impart a sense of wilderness swamp. The changes occur more frequently than you might imagine. The Black also bumps into terraced bluffs enclosing the floodplain swamp."
