Vin Gormley Trail Professional Review and Guide
"This “yellow trail” circuit travels the outlying forest, wetland, and rock habitat enfolding Watchaug Pond, with views of the pond reserved for the hike’s end. As you follow this loop, you will travel on public roadway before surrendering to trail. Points of interest include Burlingame State Park and Kimball Wildlife Refuge, a property of the Audubon Society of Rhode Island. In places the state’s North–South through-trail, blazed in blue, shares the way.
Named for John Vincent Gormley, a dedicated trail-smith, this 8.5-mile hiker circuit offers a relaxing woodland stroll at the outskirts of Watchaug Pond. Mixed woodland, bog, and brook settings host travel. Flowering shrubs recommend spring passage. Yellow paint and plastic cards blaze the route, with the occasional distance marker to cheer you on."
