The mainland has many put-ins for a paddle to Prudence Island, but a launch from Bristol Harbor gives you a good sense of what the island is about. Prudence is 6.5 miles long and 1.6 miles wide. It is home to about 150 people and many deer—which, while they’re beautiful to look at, have made Lyme disease notorious on the island.
