Block Island Striper Fishing Professional Review and Guide
"Just 17 miles east of Montauk and 12 miles south of Rhode Island, Block Island has only recently come into its own as an attractive, or at least well-known, surfcasting spot. During the late seventies and early eighties, when striper opportunities were drying up everywhere else, the “Block” provided some memorable encounters with Moby stripers. Indeed, it was probably the twilight of striper fishing’s glory days. I’ve had to make some painful decisions regarding exactly which spots to include here. There is only one ferry that carries autos in fall, and if the weather turns bad, that vessel may not run. Dyed-in-the-wool island fishermen like to keep one junker for their “inner circle” to use in the fall. (I wonder what Rhode Island’s new mandatory insurance law will do to that tradition.) Others leave the family auto behind and one member loses transportation for a few weeks while the other takes daily flights out of Westerly."
--Frank Daignault, Striper Hot Spots (Falcon Guides).
Very disappointing! This is nothing more than a reprint of a chapter from a book I already own. It's not a "trail" at all. Simply a few destinations with no connections between them. Even the topo map is useless. This entire "trail guide" is simply plagerized material.
