Pine Trail and Hemlock Mountain

Pine Trail and Hemlock Mountain Professional Review and Guide

"This hike begins with an easy walk alongside crystal-clear Pine Creek, followed by a trek out of the gorge. Near the top of the gorge, the footpath narrows as it passes through an outcropping of boulders that forces hikers to bend over at points. Although it’s not a dangerous spot, you may have to hold onto the boulders to keep your balance.

There is a rough 0.75-mile climb through a steep, rocky washout to the mountaintop, where an unused forest road leads from one spectacular view of Pine Creek Gorge to the next. Because of the enormity of the gorge and the high visibility, many hikers contend these are the best views in the state."
