Ohiopyle State Park: Laurel Highlands Trail - Ohiopyle To First Shelter Area Professional Review and Guide
"This section of the 70-mile Laurel Highlands Trail is definitely the most spectacular. The steep climbs and descents afford many views of the Youghiogheny River and its beautiful valley, as well as scenic streams and the surrounding western Pennsylvania foliage. This out-and-back hike is one in which it is rewarding and worthwhile to see the sights from both directions. If you have parked at the official trailhead, cross PA 381 and walk down the obvious street north of the general store, passing the alternative lot, to the registration box, which is located inside the gate at the end of the street. All hikers should register. You can sign out at the end of your hike, and park rangers will know you are out safely."
