Forbes State Forest: Lick Hollow Pine Knob Overloop Trail Professional Review and Guide
"The Lick Hollow Area is beautiful. It has an abundance of picnic tables nicely spaced and most are shaded. In combination with Lick Run and the available hikes, this is a perfect place to have a family day. This hike also provides an outstanding view from a rocky outcropping overlook, so bring your binoculars. To reach the trailhead, simply turn 180 degrees from facing the parking area and Lick Run and look for the trailhead sign across the gravel road. Follow the direction of the sign, away from the park office building. About 100 feet in, pass the trail veering off to the right and follow the blue blazes. At this point, the trail appears to be an old road and may be a former tram road. These thoroughfares were set up for temporary train tracks to haul logs from the upper reaches of the valley when these mountains were logged around the turn of the century."

I drove from the Philadelphia area to hike the Pine Knob Trail because in the brochure it describes the trail as a 1600 ft ascent. It is not - this is a typing error. It is more likely a 600 ft ascent.
That said, it was a beautiful gradually ascending hike through the woods with ferns and lichens along the way. The view at the top, which overlooks Hopwood and Uniontown, was impressive and would have been more so on a sunny day.
